Why does SOFTWAREbyDaW exist?

My Information Technology career started in the early 1970’s and lasted over 47 years. Through the years I was gifted with many opportunities to design, build, and support technology solutions that spanned small companies to fortune five-hundred corporations. Some solutions were only used for a short period of time while others are still in use and have been for decades.

For many years in my career significant portions of what was created had to be developed separately for each solution. As the use of technology was more widely adopted delivery of solutions evolved to enable reuse and sharing of code. Sharing of software has existed from the early days of mainframe developers that exchanged software via the CBT (Connecticut Bank and Trust) Tape in 1975, to the modern-day Open Source sharing of software by tens of thousands of developers.

The software available from this site continues in the spirit of sharing to help developers, users, students and anyone that has a desire to learn.

The Developer

Dave is a lifelong learner and continues to develop software and work with others in helping them when possible.

A lifelong learner is a person who continues to learn new skills and competencies long after they have completed their formal education. It entails not only learning different subjects but also developing an open mind and positive mindset toward the world's dynamism.

Lifelong learners are always looking for new ways to deepen their knowledge and understanding. Lifelong learning isn't necessarily associated with your career. Many lifelong learners enroll in courses to enlighten themselves about topic areas of personal interest. While academic credentials can help you advance in your career, curiosity and a proactive attitude can create new opportunities.
